Incorporating blindfolds in ESL classes can be a fun and effective way to enhance language learning. It promotes active communication, vocabulary development, teamwork, and trust-building among students.

I have created many blindfolded games. There is a whole playlist "Blindfold Games" on our channel.

How to Play?

Divide the class into 4 or 5 teams, either randomly or using your preferred method.

-Set up chairs for each team near the walls, keeping them apart from each other.

-Stick flashcards on the walls above each team's chairs. These flashcards should have words or phrases related to the topic you're teaching.

- Instruct the students to walk around the classroom while chanting a sentence or phrase related to the topic that you want them to learn or practice.

-The blindfolded teacher will ring a bell, whistle, or clap to signal the students to find seats and stand there.

- Once seated, the students will take turns asking questions to the blindfolded teacher, such as "What do you need/have/like/want?"

-The blindfolded teacher will answer the questions based on one of the flashcards. If the team standing below the corresponding flashcard is called out, they are out of the game.

-Repeat the process until only one team remains, and declare that team the winner.

Other Variations:

a. You can place the cards under the chairs.

b. Allow a student from an eliminated team to become blindfolded and act as the teacher.

c. Hold a "rock, paper, scissors" game among the students from the first team to determine who can rejoin the game.

d. Let teams continue playing and earn points on the scoreboard even if their word is called out. For example, if the first team has three students, all three students will receive points. Continue playing for a few rounds to make it more enjoyable.

Remember to adjust the game according to the age and abilities of your students, and always prioritize safety during the activity.
