Poison dart frogs are small, colorful amphibians that live in warm, wet rainforests. Surprisingly, they are usually only about the size of a paperclip, but they come in lots of bright colors like blue, red, yellow, and green. These colors warn other animals that the frogs are toxic, which means they have poison in their skin. They mostly live in Central and South America, especially in places like the Amazon Rainforest, which is humid and has tons of plants and insects.

Even though poison dart frogs are small, they can be very active and social. Some species live in small groups and even call each other using loud, chirping sounds. Male frogs often sing to attract females or to keep other males away from their territory. These frogs are diurnal, meaning awake and active during the day. They hop around the forest floor and on leaves, hunting tiny insects like ants and termites to eat.
