In this video series for kids, we are learning about dinosaurs from A to Z. Today’s dino is the Brachiosaurus!
Imagine an animal as tall as a four-story building. It weighs as much as much as six elephants or 99,000 pounds! The Brachiosaurus was a long-necked herbivore that munched on the upper limbs of trees that other dinos couldn't reach. Scientists think it was one of the largest dinosaurs to walk on the earth.
Because of its size, the Brachiosaurus was not a fast runner. Predators might have thought it would make an easy snack! But its enormous size probably frightened most predators away. Initially, scientists thought this huge dino may have lived in water. It would have been easier to move about in water than on land. Later, they realized that the Brachiosaurus was one of the many enormous land dinosaurs that roamed the earth.
