Did you know that bull sharks can survive in both fresh water and salt water? Read along with us to learn more facts about bull sharks in this educational video for kids!
Bull sharks are large, strong fish with thick bodies and short, blunt noses. They usually grow around 7 to 11 feet long and weigh up to 500 pounds. Some can even grow as long as a surfboard! Their bodies are grayish-brown on top and white underneath, which helps them blend into their surroundings in the water. Unlike most other sharks, bull sharks can live in salt and fresh waters. They are often found in warm, shallow waters near coasts, rivers, and lakes.
They are usually solitary, which means they like to live and hunt alone. However, they sometimes come together in groups called schools, especially when there is a lot of food nearby. These groups are not always permanent and are mostly made for feeding. Because they are so strong and curious, bull sharks can be dangerous if they feel threatened or mistake something for food.
