Have you ever heard of the Stone of Destiny? It is an oblong block of red sandstone that belonged to the Scottish people. England stole the stone all the way back in the year 1296 and used it over the years in coronation ceremonies. The stone was finally returned to Scotland seven hundred years later on July 3, 1996.
Ever wonder why the United States celebrates its independence on the fourth of July every year? It is because the Declaration of Independence was passed by the Continental Congress on July 4th, 1776, and marked the official political separation of the United States from England. Here’s a bonus fun fact: John Hancock was the first person to sign the document.
