How to draw a Shiba Inu dog, pencil drawing and shading for beginners step by step using a regular HB graphite pencil. I first lightly sketch out a rectangle and divide it in two by drawing a vertical line through the center and then I draw a horizontal line through the center and a few vertical guide lines down through the width of the rectangle. I then begin to draft out the basic layout of the Shiba Inu's body within the rectangle as a guide.

Once I'm happy with the general layout I begin to add details and apply shading with the outside of the pencil. I block in darkest tones, mid tones and lightest tones but I gradually build up the mid and dark tones throughout the drawing process.
