Did you know that lions have unique whisker patterns that help scientists identify and study them? It’s true! Learn this and even more cool facts about lions in this educational video for kids.

Lions are strong, muscular wildcats with large bodies, powerful legs, and sharp claws that help them survive in the wild. They also have strong jaws with big canine teeth. Male lions are easy to recognize because they have a mane, a thick, long area of hair around their head and neck. Lions usually have golden brown fur that helps them blend into their surroundings. Most of them live in the savannas and grasslands of Africa, which are vast open areas with few trees but lots of space for hunting.

Unlike most cats, lions live in social groups called prides. A pride includes female lions, their cubs, and a few male lions. Female lions, also called lionesses, usually hunt and work together to catch food like zebras, antelopes, and buffalo. The males help protect the pride from danger. One danger comes from other male lions that want to assume control over the pride!
