In this heartwarming video, we explore the incredible Dream Ride event, a special weekend designed for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Many of these individuals, like Jelly and Jack, often feel different and left out in society, but at Dream Ride, they find a loving community that celebrates their uniqueness. The event started 24 years ago when Mike, a local hero, began taking children on bike rides. This small act of kindness grew into a fantastic festival filled with live music, fun activities, and the main highlight: the Dream Cruise, where these amazing individuals get to ride in supercars!
Jack, a participant from Devon, dreams of driving a supercar, and we get to join him on this exciting adventure. As they cruise through the streets, the joy on the riders’ faces is contagious, showcasing the support and love that surrounds them. After the cruise, everyone is welcomed back with cheers and a red-carpet event, making them feel like stars. This video beautifully captures the essence of community, acceptance, and the importance of making everyone feel valued and included. The Dream Ride Experience initiative run by the Hometown Foundation is a weekend-long event that brings families from around the world together, creating a safe space for members of the intellectual and developmental disabilities community.
This weekend event and year-round movement highlights their determination and willingness to persevere, overcome challenges, and shatter stereotypes. The Dream Ride Experience advocates for inclusion and building friendships amongst not only the Dream Riders, but also with the participants and attendees.
We’d like to extend a huge congratulations to the Dream Ride team who raised over 7 million dollars during their last event weekend and purchased 250 acres of land that will be used to build a legacy property. This property will be a safe space for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, animal welfare and many other individuals in need.
The "This Car Starts With A Dream" tee celebrates inclusion, empowerment, and the incredible work of the Dream Ride initiative—and as always, 100% of the proceeds go toward furthering our mission!
