Educational video for kids that talks about how to use three types of figurative speech: personification, alliteration and repetition. Personification is a literary device that gives human qualities to non-human things. That is, personification gives animals or objects human traits, characteristics, or actions. For example, when we say "the sun is smiling down on us,โ that is personification. An alliteration is the repetition of the same sound in a phrase or sentence. For example, in the sentence โPeter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppersโ the โpโ sound reminds us of the sound of someone picking a pepper off a plant.
Repetition is a figure of speech that consists of using a word or phrase several times to create emphasis or impact. When we say โRun, run, run as fast as you can!โ we are using repetition to express greater intensity. Can you think of more examples? Surely you use many in your everyday life!
