Simile is a figure of speech that uses the device of comparison. Metaphor is a fun way to make a comparison between two things without using the word "like" or "as." Hyperbole is a literary device that consists of exaggerating a situation or characteristic to emphasize it. Personification is used when we attribute human characteristics to objects or animals. Alliteration is the repetition of a sound in several words of the same verse or phrase. Repetition is a literary device that consists of using a word or phrase several times to create emphasis or impact. We use many literary devices on a daily basis, so it is important to understand them and know how to use them. Can you think of more examples?
