Educational video for kids where they will learn the characteristics and parts of letters and emails, two forms of written communication that are very useful for expressing oneself and staying in touch with other people.
A letter has a date and place, a greeting, a body, a closing, a signature and, sometimes, a postscript. It is sent inside an envelope with a stamp and the sender's and recipient's information. An email has an email address (with the @ symbol), a subject, a greeting, a message body, attachments, a closing and a signature, and it arrives instantly through the internet.
In this video, kids join our main character as she receives a letter from her friend Keiko in Japan and, later on, writes an email that a mischievous cat accidentally sends to the whole class. Through these two everyday situations, kids will discover:
βοΈ What is a letter? It's a form of written communication between a sender and a recipient who are far apart.
π Where is the date written on a letter? In the upper right-hand corner, along with the place
π What is the most important part of a letter or an email? The body, where the main message is conveyed
ποΈ What is a postscript for? To add reminders or something that was forgotten while writing the body, always written below the signature
π§ What is an email? A message sent over the internet that arrives instantly
@ What does the @ symbol indicate in an email address? It separates the username from the domain, such as gmail.com
π What are attachments for? To send photos or documents along with the text, by clicking the paperclip icon
π₯ What is the inbox? The place where all received emails arrive, marked as unread if they are new.
Kids will also discover useful tips, such as writing a clear subject line or avoiding all caps, which in digital messages are interpreted as shouting.
An ideal resource for kids in Primary Education that strengthens literacy, written communication and the proper use of formal and informal language in different contexts.
