How to draw an American football for beginners, step by step using a regular HB graphite pencil. I first lightly sketch out some guide lines by drawing a rectangle and then two arcs for the shape of the football. Once I'm happy with the general layout I then begin to add details and shading.
With the outside of the pencil I begin to apply shading throughout the entire drawing. I block in darkest tones, mid tones and lightest tones but I gradually build up the mid and dark tones throughout the drawing process.
