We were excited to visit this port city of Messina, Italy before we knew what might go wrong. We walked an incredible distance (where nobody else went) through intense heat only to find the destination blocked off to visitors. After walking all the way back to the city center we were hard pressed to find any good shopping for visitors. All the small local shops were closed. At the end of the day we still had a good time and a good attitude. We won't be going back to this port city in Sicily again.
