1/4 ounce active dry yeast (one packet)
1 1/2 cups warm water
12 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
3 1/2 cups bread flour
4 tablespoons vegetable shortening
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon oil (for deep-frying)

I had so much fun #Baking these New Years #Beignet! They are very similar to a #Donut but are much more soft and airy. It is the perfect way to celebrate 2021! You can also cut them into different shapes using a cookie cutter to match any occasion.
