Chased by a Leopard Seal in Antarctica | The Dodo

In this exciting adventure in Antarctica, we find ourselves being chased by a leopard seal! At first glance, these seals look like giant puppies lounging on the ice, making them seem super cute and cuddly. But don't let their adorable appearance fool you; leopard seals are powerful predators at the top of the food chain. They have a reputation for being fierce, and even whales steer clear of them!

As we approach a leopard seal napping on an iceberg, the thrill of the chase begins. We spot another curious leopard seal swimming nearby, and suddenly it starts following our boat. It’s a bit nerve-wracking because while these seals are fascinating to watch, we definitely don't want to get too close! They can be quite curious and have been known to nibble on the boat's pontoons. However, once we manage to put some distance between us and the seal, it loses interest and swims away, leaving us with a memorable story of our encounter with this majestic creature.
