Once upon a time,
there were
beautiful mermaid sisters
in the deep blue sea.
Among them,
the youngest had
the most beautiful voice
and loved to sing
with her undersea friends.
"Do you know
what it’s like out there?”
“Out in the water?”
“I don’t know!”
“Then, why don’t we
go up and see?"
“Let’s go!”
The curious little mermaid
swam up to the surface
of the water with joy
and excitement.
There was a big ship sailing by.
And right then,
the little mermaid fell in love
at first sight with the prince
standing on the deck.
"I think I’m in love."
Just then,
a thunderstorm came
and broke the ship into pieces.
"Oh no! I must save him!"
The little mermaid saved
the prince and swam
to the shore with him.
As she heard
someone coming,
she hid behind a rock.
"Oh, my! Are you okay?"
The prince thought
the princess was the one
who saved his life.
The little mermaid went
to the sea witch for help
because she was
so heartbroken.
"Please make me human.
Please."
"If you wish.
But if so, you must
give me your voice.
And remember, if the prince
does not marry you,
you will turn into sea foam.”
The little mermaid
took the magic potion
in front of the castle.
She fainted right away
and when she woke up,
there was her prince.
"What’s your name?
Where are you from?"
The little mermaid
and the prince
were always together
even though
she couldn't speak a word.
One day,
the prince invited the princess
to his castle.
"Meet the person
who saved my life
in the storm."
'No, my prince!
I’m the one who saved you!'
She shouted over and over
in her heart
but he could not
hear any words.
On the wedding day
of the prince and the princess,
the little mermaid
could do nothing
but shed tears.
Her sisters came and said,
"Stab the prince with this knife,
and you will become
a mermaid again!"
That night, the little mermaid
went into the prince’s room
with the knife.
The prince and princess
were asleep.
'No. I can’t. I love him.'
She stared at his face
for a while,
but then came out quietly.
'Goodbye, my prince.’
The little mermaid threw herself
into the cold water.
She turned into sea foam
