Over a quick bite, Spenza asks Shakes what keeps his passion for football alive. Shakes traces it back to his childhood—chasing battered soccer balls down dusty streets, mimicking his legendary father, Jomo, and feeling the pure magic of his first goal. Football wasn't just a game; it was his identity.

The mood shifts when they touch on Shakes' lowest moment: a severe knee injury early in his career that nearly destroyed his dreams. He opens up about the terrifying weeks of rehab, the silent fear that his body wouldn't bounce back, and the agonizing thought of a life without the pitch.

Spenza reminds him how hard he fought to return—the grueling late-night workouts and the sheer grit it took to prove the doctors wrong. Reconnecting with that dark period, Shakes realizes that nearly losing the game is exactly what made him unstoppable on it. Recharged, the two head off to prepare for the Strikas' next big fixture.
