Eric and Ellie have a blast playing in a muddy pool. Their playful mud fight accidentally ruins a photo of a mud monster, who then comes to life and chases them. The kids, now covered in mud, seek help from Auntie Beth, but she mistakes them for monsters due to their messy appearance.
As the mud monster continues to create chaos, Auntie Beth and the kids wrongly assume each other are to blame for the messy kitchen and popcorn store. Eventually, Eric and Ellie catch the mud monster in the act and confront him. They learn that the mud monster was upset about his ruined photo. In a heartwarming ending, Auntie Beth helps create a new painting for the mud monster, and everyone happily plays in the mud again.
