When people around the world suddenly begin acting like circus clowns—complete with permanent, garish makeup—Jerry sends Sam, Clover, and Alex to investigate. The spies trace the phenomenon to Clownique, a sinister cosmetic created by Bozette Slapstick, a bitter former clown determined to force the world to “appreciate” clowns again by transforming everyone into one. As Clover herself falls victim to the makeup, the girls must stop Bozette’s plan before the global clown takeover becomes permanent, all while dealing with a subplot in which Mandy is recruited to spy on them at Malibu University.
