The Mayflower was the ship that brought Pilgrim settlers to Plymouth, Massachusetts, in 1620. They had originally been aiming for the mouth of the Hudson River, near modern-day New York City, but they were blown off course and decided to stay. The winter was harsh, the land was unfamiliar, and many of the Pilgrims died. Only help from Native Americans allowed them to find a way to survive in their new home.
